How would you feel if one day you found out that you were actually related to Genghis Khan? Khan built such a big empire during his time that it is believed that one in every 200 men are his direct descendants.

If we dig deep enough, it is not difficult to find out that we are all somehow related to someone great or, for that matter, someone evil. Let's start our royal lineage history lesson.

Grace Kelly

In 1956, Kelly famously married Prince Rainier of Monaco and became Princess of Monaco. They had three children and she stopped her young acting career after stepping into the royal castle to perform the duties of a princess. She passed away in 1982 after suffering from a stroke while driving.

A real life fairy tale - Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco

Kelly came onto the scene in 1951 with a small role in Fourteen Hours. She made many unforgettable movies, such as Rear Window and To Catch a Thief.

Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal

The royal lineage of Hollywood’s favourite siblings can be traced back to Edward III, the King of England from 1327 to 1377, through their father’s side. This, thereby, makes them the Queen's 19th cousins. Edward III is well known for his military competence and transformed England into one of the most formidable military powers in Europe. He was far different from his father, Edward II, who ruled with disastrous results.

Tom Hanks

Even Hollywood’s favourite leading man's lineage isn't as plain as his looks. Hanks is Queen Elizabeth's 24th cousin and the relation comes from his father's side.

Hanks is the descendant of King John of England, who reigned from 1199 to 1216. He was the youngest and favourite son of King Henry II. While Hanks rules Hollywood with great success, King John ruled his kingdom poorly and ended up poor.

Hugh Grant

The A-list British actor, who graduated from Oxford University with a degree in English, comes with two royal connections. On his mother's side, he is the descendant of King James IV of Scotland, while Henry VII is also his ancestor and also the grandfather of Queen Elizabeth I.

Grant is particularly well known for his roles in romance comedies, such as Bridget Jones's Diary, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, and The Rewrite

It kind of seems like many are somehow related to the royalty of England. Talk about a formidable monarchy! There’s something that agrees with their royal lineage; these celebrities make some princely sums just like their relations in the royal family.
