Pitch Perfect 3 is the third movie of acapella franchise icons, The Bellas. As expected, it starts with a bang, literally.
Britney Spears’ energetic number "Toxic" choreographed and recreated quite meticulously when suddenly... the glass roof shatters and Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) falls through!
Explosions! Fire! Dramatic slow-mo run with a bomb going off in the background. WAIT WHAT?! Am I watching a spy action movie? Is this what life after acapella looks like? Much horsepower, much production value, did the budget go up? Either way, I’m intrigued where this goes.
Pitch Perfect 3 reunites the star-studded cast of Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Hailee Steinfeld, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Chrissie Fit, Alexis Knapp, Kelley Jakle and Shelley Regner as the Bellas. The film follows our heroines, now graduated from college with jobs that they hate, as they look forward to reuniting for one final performance together during an overseas USO tour. Nothing like singing for the troops and ogling at men in uniform. Trust the Bellas to make every interaction awkward and awfully giggly fun.
A simple premise with self-aware humour and a whole lot of singing. The Bellas’ third outing brings in some new faces, like astute actor John Lithgow, model/actress Ruby Rose (Resident Evil, John Wick: Chapter 2) and hotshot American Record Producer DJ Khaled. We can't also forget our favourite Pitch Perfect couple, Elizabeth Banks, and John Michael Higgins.
With artful pop song arrangements you can sing along to, Pitch Perfect 3 is a chick flick and a comedy blockbuster for a lazy evening for the weary mind that needs a laugh.
