“The closer you get, the more you see the great darkness within,”

At last we have some more details about the Wonder Woman film that is planned for release next summer! Director Patty Jenkins has presented the second trailer of her amazing re-invention of the DC comic heroine.

This trailer gives us an insight into the plot of the new movie. It is an exciting mix of ancient acrobatics and full-scale, mechanized warfare, World War I style. Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) is co-opted by pilot Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, to fight in this terrible conflict. Fans of the genre will recognize the pattern: Wonder Woman's classic, super-hero abilities are set against modern bullets and mustard gas.

It's not just a battle between new and old, however. The film offers a feast of visual delights, including some truly spectacular slow-motion fight scenes. Wonder Woman deflects a bullet with her gauntlet, whizzes through the air, and executes her deadly moves using all four limbs at once. It's quite something to watch, and the blistering pace keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's war, certainly, but not as we know it!

Warner Brothers have unveiled three new posters highlighting the power, courage and wonder of the Amazonian superhero.

Included in the host of supporting actors are two contrasting villains: a German senior officer (Danny Huston) and a mysterious female antagonist played by Elena Anaya. It's not quite clear what their roles in the film are yet, but they are sure to find themselves confronting the whirlwind in action, Wonder Woman. In addition, breathtaking scenery and authentic costumes bring the ancient world to life, while the desperation of the modern battlefield is depicted in unflinching detail. This movie will be a feast for the eyes, and a thoughtful reflection on the devastating impact of war throughout the ages.

Few years back, when Gal Gadot was first announced as the big screen Wonder Woman, some fans of the character voiced disagreement, thinking she's too thin and slender to convincingly portray a mystical Amazonian warrior. A lot of the detractors were silenced when she finally gets into the action in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, showing her excellent physique and screen presence. Interestingly, of all the actresses that have played a superheroine, Gal is probably the one with the most actual combat skills - as an Israeli citizen, she had served as an enlisted soldier for two years, including three months in the notoriously tough boot camp. Chances are, she can kill you in ways you've never imagined!

Wonder Woman opens in theaters June 2, 2017. Will you be there?
