We know Daniel Craig has, once again, signed on to wear his spiffy suit and make a return as the dapper Bond, James Bond. It’s good news of course because Craig makes a charismatic Bond, but what if one day, he decides to hang his secret agent coat? We have some candidates in mind who could step into his stylish shoes.

Idris Elba

Despite having started acting over two decades ago, Elba became a familiar name only in recent years, thanks to movies like Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013) and the Thor series, where he plays Heimdall. The guardian of the Bifröst. And who can forget his “we are cancelling the apocalypse” speech in Pacific Rim? Elba has a commanding presence, and if he were to play Bond, he’d be an agent of gravitas, a man’s man rather than a ladies’ man.

Bond speciality: With his strong presence, Elba can give a rousing speech to any Bond enemy and have them bend to his will, probably at gunpoint. He is never shaken and will have you all stirred up.

Pacific Rim

Orlando Bloom

For years, we’ve associated Bloom as the clean-shaven Elven prince in the The Lord of the Rings series, but he has shown his diversity in movies like Elizabethtown (2005), where he played an American shoe designer, The Pirates of the Caribbean series as a reluctant pirate and a wimpy prince in Troy (2004), to just name a few. While he has established himself as a leading man, but we’ve yet to see this dashing Brit in an equally dashing suit, swirling a martini glass in his hand.

Bond speciality: We know Bond always have a suite of sophisticated weapons, and Bloom can be the first Bond to wield an old school one- the bow and arrow. Heck, Q could invent one high tech bow and arrow that can inject a tracking device onto the person being hit or something.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Tom Hiddleston

Who wouldn’t love Loki being a good guy for once? Hiddleston started out modestly in television and caught the eye of Kenneth Branagh when they worked together in the TV series Wallander. Branagh, who directed Thor, eventually cast him as Loki, even though Hiddleston auditioned for the role of the God of Thunder. Confident but not cocky, Hiddleston made the villain Loki likeable, and gained much female admiration from playing the antihero. He has a twinkle in his eye and a disarming grin. Which Bond girl wouldn’t fall for that?

Bond speciality: Hiddleston could pretend to be double agent and play for the bad guys, only to flip once the time is right and the villain is caught.

Thor: Ragnarok

Michael Fassbender

Fassbender has proven himself to be both a critical and commercial hit. He first appeared in the critically acclaimed Steven Spielberg TV series Band of Brothers (2001) and made his film debut in 300 (2007). Since then, he’s ascended from bit-part status to leading star status, headlining movies like X-Men: First Class (2011) as the formidable Magneto, Prometheus (2012) as a persuasive android, a hideous slave owner in 12 Years A Slave (2013) and more. With his steely gaze and deep, calm voice, he’ll make Bond enemies be on their toes, for sure.

Bond Specialty: Fassbender could stare his enemies into submission with his intense glare. Bond villains will have to avert their gazes to avoid being caught.

12 Years A Slave

Jude Law

We can easily envision Law as Bond, just imagine him as the character Alfie (2004), but less flippant and more responsible. Law was everywhere in the first decade of the 2000s, making 21 movies. He was a cheeky robot in A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), a charming captain in the Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004), a dashing Errol Flynn in the Aviator (2004), and a whole lot of other characters. Law has this gentleman quality to him and as Bond, you can imagine him charming the pants (or in this case, panties) off women.

Bond Specialty: Law’s enchanting smile could melt the hearts of women, who’d die to complete any task he has for them, and as Bond, that’s how he’ll win the game.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Meanwhile, former 007 Pierce Brosnan has named Tom Hardy his favourite candicate to play Bond. Who's your pick?
