4 Other Actors Who Could Take on Aquaman

With his hulking build, long, wavy hair and growling voice, Jason Momoa seemed to be the perfect choice to play Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman. A son of both land and sea, Aquaman is the one destined to bring peace to both humans and creatures from the ocean.

Aquaman

Momoa wields the trident with ease, and looks every inch like the rightful ruler of Atlantis. But should he decide to hang up his trident, there are four other actors worthy of taking his place.

Armie Hammer

Standing at an imposing 1.96m, Hammer is 3cm taller than Momoa, so he would look every inch, or more, as commanding as the ruler of Atlantis. Since gaining recognition for playing the Winkelvoss twins in The Social Network (2010), Hammer has been steadily building a diverse repertoire of work, playing a Prince Charming in Mirror, Mirror (2012), as John Reid in The Lone Ranger (2013), a Russian spy in the remake of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) and most notably, as a man in love with another in 2017’s Call Me By Your Name, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The role that so far eludes him is that of a superhero. As Aquaman, you won’t be hearing Hammer roaring “My Man” to anyone. He’s more likely to smile politely and say “good job” instead. He’d definitely make a brainer than brawny Arthur Curry.

Gerard Butler

If Butler can be a Spartan, he can be Aquaman. Sure he doesn’t have age on his side, but we’re pretty sure if the world leaders depended on him twice, in Olympus has Fallen (2013) and London Has Fallen (2016), audiences can also depend on him to bring a ferocious Aquaman to life. Butler brings with him a feral vibe, which makes the ruler of Atlantis and King of the Seven Seas a force to be reckoned with. He’s more likely to round up the creatures of the sea and declare, “This… is…AQUAMAN!”

London Has Fallen

Liam Hemsworth

Yes, we admit, he’s a little on the young side. But still, the strapping Australian, at 1.91m, is all but ready to first, step out of his more famous brother, Chris’s shadow, and second, to be known as himself instead of Miley Cyrus’s fiancé. Hemsworth’s most famous role to date has been the semi-boyfriend of Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games series. Tall, Blond and striking, he easily resembles the comic version of Aquaman. If Hemsworth becomes Arthur Curry, he can just turn on his charms and the creatures of the Seven Seas are all ready to do his bidding.

The Hunger Games

Alexander Skarsgård

So many women have swooned over Skarsgård, one of many from the Skarsgård acting family, in the cult series True Blood. There’s a danger in his eye and a wild menacing appeal about him. As Arthur Curry, he’ll no doubt be an authoritative figure with a brooding behaviour. One stare from him and the Seven Seas would tremble in their knees.
