Finally, the day we’ve been waiting for - a date for the new Indiana Jones. Director Steven Spielberg attended the Empire Awards over the weekend and shared that he’s starting work on the new Indiana Jones movie next year, and in London.

He shared, “It’s always worth the trip when I get to work with this deep bench of talent coming out of the UK. The actors, and the crew, the chippies, the sparks, the drivers — everybody who has helped me make my movies here, and will continue helping me make my movies here when I come back in April 2019 to make the fifth Indiana Jones movie right here,”

With a tentative July 20, 2020, release date, the movie will see Harrison Ford reprising his role as our favourite archaeologist and explorer who has a knack of getting into all sorts of adventures and misadventures.

It has been a decade since the last Indiana Jones adventure, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (co-starring Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf), and for a long time, no one was sure if there was going to be a fifth instalment. After all, Ford would be 76 next year, hardly the youthful age range to be dodging giant rolling boulders or be chased down the streets of Cairo by a bunch of local gangsters.

Since the first Indiana Jones appeared on the big screen in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, audiences have been thrilled and entertained with two more Jones adventures with 1984's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, before the fourth movie almost 20 years later.
