Fans of Despicable Me do not have to wait much longer for the third film in the series, as it is scheduled for release next summer.
Gru, possibly the most eccentric and iconic of all super-villains, will be voiced once again by Steve Carell. In this latest instalment, Gru faces off against his nemesis Balthazar Bratt, who is voiced by South Park’s Trey Parker. In the trailer, the villain's trademark features are his outmoded 80s mullet, his outrageous shoulder pads, and some particularly dreadful dance moves.

Also featured in this movie is the voice of Kristen Wiig as Lucy, who is Gru’s wife and an agent of the Anti-Villain League. In Despicable Me 3, the Minions play themselves as they have now become stars in their own right, even starring in their own film.
Minions overtook Toy Story 3 to become the second highest-grossing animated movie of all time
No doubt the latest instalment will follow in the successful footsteps of its predecessors, Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, which were both massive box office hits. Minions, the spin-off movie that hit theatres in 2015, eclipsed the success of both these films, grossing a staggering $1.159 billion worldwide. These figures make it the 11th highest-grossing movie ever made.
Children and adults alike can look forward to the release of Despicable Me 3 on June 30, 2017.
